Saint Joseph Center of Hope Numbers
Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan successfully opened the doors of the fourth engagement center within the CMHPSM region on November 21, 2018 with the support of CMHPSM, ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital, Community Foundation of Monroe County, St. John’s Parish and AOD, Joe Bellino, State Representative and several other communities supports. 
FY 18 – 19 Center data:

​Monroe County Health Department was awarded a grant to address the opioid epidemic in 2019 due to the data reflected below. This table shows overdose Emergency Department (ED) visit rates for health departments, and in 2017, Monroe County ranked 4th.  The overdose ED visit rate for Monroe County was 82.64 in 2017, with 123.5 total visits.  The opioid task force meets monthly at the Monroe County Health Department.

In Michigan

Opioid-Involved Overdose Deaths In 2017, there were 2,033 overdose deaths involving opioids in Michigan--a rate of 21.2 deaths per 100,000 persons, which is higher than the national rate of 14.6 deaths per 100,000 persons. The greatest increase in opioid deaths was seen in cases involving synthetic opioids (mainly fentanyl), from 72 deaths in 2012 to 1,368 in 2017. Deaths involving heroin increased from 263 to 783 deaths in the same 5-year period. Prescription opioid involved deaths also rose from 378 deaths in 2012 to 678 deaths in 2016 but saw a recent decline to 633 deaths in 2017.
